What is Vedic Chanting
VEDIC CHANT is the method of conveying the ancient scriptures from India through vocalization. The language of the Veda-s is Sanksrit - a vibrational language - which requires precise pronunciation in order to maintain the integrity of the meaning. Mantra-s (segments of the Veda) can be long or short, and have different applications for example to help with memory, health, and peace.
How to chant
Every single person has the ability to chant. Vedic Chanting is a complete mind/body experience, using breath, sound, and mental acuity. Only 3 consecutive notes are used in any given chant.
Method of Instruction
The traditional method of instruction uses a call and response format. This allows the student’s ear to be trained to hear and thus reproduce the language. After the student has been taught aurally, the contemporary system of using transliterated text is given to the student.
